Opening Ceremony at Ullevi

Gothia Cup

The week is full of both planned and spontaneous moments. The Opening Ceremony is the big gathering of the week. For one hour, expect music, dancing, fireworks and a parade featuring every nation taking part. With 50,000 people packed into Ullevi, it’s an event everyone shares.

A memory for life

We believe that it is important to make a lifelong memory from the tournament. A moment for everyone – a moment of harmony and fellowship. We want to create this very moment with the Gothia Opening Ceremony.

ELECTRIC ATMOSPHERE

Shiver with excitement

Previous participants have compared it to an Olympic ceremony and that’s the idea. The atmosphere is electric; you’ll feel it in every moment. It will be a memory that makes you smile for years to come.

Tickets & Entry
All players, leaders, and accompanying family or friends who have booked accommodation through Gothia Cup or paid the participation fee will receive a ticket.
  • A physical ticket is required for entry; you will receive this with your pre-ordered Gothia Card.
  • Gothia Cards purchased during the tournament also include entry to the Opening Ceremony — subject to ticket availability.

  • Please note that the Gothia Card alone is not valid as a ticket.
The Arena – Ullevi Stadium
Ullevi is Gothenburg’s largest outdoor arena and one of Sweden’s most famous stadiums. Built in 1958, it has hosted World Cup matches, athletics championships and some of the world’s biggest concerts.

For football it seats around 43,000, and for large shows like the Gothia Cup Opening Ceremony it can welcome up to around 51,000 spectators. Located in the city centre, Ullevi is easy to reach by tram or bus and offers an electric atmosphere that makes every event unforgettable.
Bag ban policy
It is not allowed to bring any kind of bags into the event.

Worldwide music

Music from all corners of the world is played when participants from all the nations enter the arena and when the year's song is played it's the audience that takes care of the singing. You may also find yourself reflecting and find out that Gothia Cup is much more than just football.

The audience

The Gothia Cup Opening Ceremony brings everyone together. More than 50,000 players, leaders, supporters and locals fill Ullevi Stadium and create a truly magical atmosphere. The crowd becomes part of the show, sharing in the joy and fellowship.
