Älvsjö AIK FF deliver final thrashing: “I’ll be happy all year long”
They are the champions in the G17 category.

The G17 final saw a Swedish-Norwegian clash on Saturday morning, as Älvsjö AIK FF took on Hønefoss BK. It ended in a comfortable victory for the Swedish side – who are now champions in the G17 category.
- I’ve dreamt of this since I started playing football, says the match’s MVP, Bella Löfstrand.
Älvsjö AIK got off to a flying start in the G17 final – the first final of the day at Gamla Ullevi. After just four minutes, Älvsjö’s Bella Löfstrand took advantage of a scrappy situation in the Hønefoss penalty area and gave the Stockholm side the lead. The Älvsjö dominance continued – and didn’t stop until it was 5–0, the scoreline at half-time.
- I think we just had such a bloody good attitude. Now that we’d come this far in the tournament, we thought, there’s no way we’re losing at the final hurdle. I think we were absolutely dominant in the first half, says Bella Löfstrand.
The second half was more of a formality for Älvsjö, who remained in control of the match. While they didn’t produce the same goal frenzy as in the first half, they comfortably held onto their lead without any trouble. The match ended 5–0, and Älvsjö AIK FF were crowned champions in the G17 category.
- It feels absolutely amazing – I’ve dreamt of this since I first started playing football. Gothia has always been the tournament I wanted to win, and to do it now... it just feels unreal, says Bella Löfstrand.
Bella was named MVP of the final. This was her third time competing in the Gothia Cup – but her first win.
- I’m so happy to have done this. We came third the last time I played, so bringing home the gold now means the world.
Now it’s time for a day of celebration for the Älvsjö girls, who are heading back to Stockholm during the day.
- We’re going to celebrate properly in the minibuses today. I’m going to be happy for the rest of the year after this win, Bella concluded.
