Anders Albertsson steps down as Event Director for Gothia Cup
After three years in charge of BK Häcken’s youth tournaments, Anders Albertsson is moving on to new challenges as the new Secretary General of the Gothenburg Athletics Federation. – It has been a privilege to work with such strong brands, he says.

Albertsson took up the role of Event Director in the summer of 2022, with overall responsibility for the club’s events: Gothia Cup, Gothia Innebandy Cup and the Music Festival, as well as the delivery of Partille World Cup in cooperation with IK Sävehof.
– I have really enjoyed being part of the organisation, working with all my colleagues and taking steps forward to develop each of our events. I am proud that we have managed to strengthen our entire operation while continuing to be a meeting place for the whole world, he says.
Under his leadership, the club’s events have grown even further.
– We have taken important steps as an organisation, and all our brands have become stronger in recent years. Looking at Gothia Cup alone, we are breaking new records in almost every measurable way year after year. We see packed stadiums, a stronger local presence and greater international interest than ever before, says Anders Albertsson.
He will remain in his role until the end of the year before moving on to his new position as Secretary General of the Gothenburg Athletics Federation.
– BK Häcken is a well-run club and I am convinced that the events will continue to develop positively. The way we have worked together with Sävehof and developed Partille World Cup really shows the strength and competence within the organisation, says Anders Albertsson.
