Beyond Limits are the champions of the B17E category
Beyond Limits crowned kings of Gothia Cup 2025. They defeated ASEC Mimosas from Ivory Coast in the final of the prestigious B17E category – winning on penalties. - I’m so happy right now, said Emmanuel Ayowonuola Adeboyejo, who was named MVP of the final.

In a clash between two highly skilled teams, it was ASEC Mimosas who started strongest in the B17E final. It took just five minutes for them to break the deadlock, thanks to an acrobatic finish from Emile Emmanuel Zongo. But Beyond Limits bounced back, and in the 20th minute, they forced the ball over the line to make it 1–1 at half-time.
The second half was a tactical battle. It was tough, physical, and filled with chances at both ends – with nerves clearly on display. Neither side managed to find a winner, and the match went to a penalty shootout.
- It was really nerve-racking at that point. But we believed in ourselves, especially since we won a shootout in the previous round, said Emmanuel Ayowonuola Adeboyejo.
The penalty shootout delivered high drama. Beyond Limits had a chance to seal the win after five penalties, but the ASEC Mimosas keeper made a save. Then – in the eighth round of penalties – ASEC missed. Beyond Limits were crowned champions of the prestigious B17E category.
- I feel amazing and so relieved after that dramatic shootout. We’ve been a great team throughout this tournament, and I truly believe we deserve this, said Emmanuel, who was named MVP of the final.
Tonight, the Nigerians will celebrate. Emmanuel Ayowonuola Adeboyejo expects the celebrations to be joyful, but not too wild:
- We’ll dance and sing, but I don’t think it’ll get too crazy. Still, everyone will definitely be very happy.
