Green Hosts keep Gothia Cup clean

They collect waste, sort materials and help visitors do the right thing. Green Hosts are an important part of Gothia Cup’s sustainability work and contribute to increased recycling throughout the tournament. – After this job, I will of course think more about how I sort my waste, says Rital Habet, Green Host at Gothia Cup.

Every year, Gothia Cup brings together tens of thousands of participants and visitors from all over the world. Rital Habet, 15, works as a Green Host at Gothia Cup and helps keep the playing areas cleaner throughout the week. This is her first time working as a Green Host.

– It is fun, you get to meet so many new people and it is a good introduction to working life. You also earn some money from it.

Rital Habet is one of several Green Hosts working during Gothia Cup.

She believes it is important that the Green Hosts are present. In addition to collecting waste around the playing areas, they also take care of waste left by visitors and sort it correctly.

– Gothia Cup is the biggest youth tournament in the world, and that means we need people working with this to help keep the areas clean.

The experiences from working as a Green Host are something she will carry with her into everyday life, with a greater understanding of littering and the importance of sorting waste correctly.

– After this job, I will of course think more about how I sort my waste. Before, I thought all waste sorting took care of itself, but it actually requires a lot of time.

Being out around the playing fields and collecting waste is part of the responsibilities of a Green Host.
