IFK Göteborg won it at home turf

IFK Göteborg win G18 category after defeating French side AG Caen Football in the final A particularly special victory for IFK Göteborg, who got to do it on home turf. - It’s just so fun, said Moa Svensson, named MVP of the final.

This wasn’t the first time the two sides met during the tournament – they also faced each other in the group stage. On that occasion, IFK Göteborg came out on top, and on Saturday, they showed they had every intention of repeating that result.
- It was a bit nerve-racking playing a team we’d already faced in the tournament. But at the same time, it gave us confidence knowing we could beat them, said Moa Svensson, player for IFK Göteborg.

In the 12th minute, IFK Göteborg were rewarded when the skilful winger Elma Brkovic rocketed the ball into the top corner. Brkovic’s screamer was the only goal of the half.

IFK Göteborg kept pressing in the second half. They had several chances to extend their lead early on, but the French side fought hard and kept the match alive. In the 46th minute, however, they could no longer hold out, as Moa Svensson rounded the keeper with style and slotted the ball into an open net to double the lead. The match ended 3–0, and IFK Göteborg were crowned champions in the G18 category.
- It feels absolutely incredible to be standing here today – it really is a dream come true. We’ve performed well throughout the tournament, and I think the win is well deserved, said Moa Svensson, who was named MVP of the final.

The victory was extra special for IFK Göteborg, who won it on home soil – at Gamla Ullevi.
- It’s just so bloody fun. Especially with such a big crowd here today, said Moa.

Tonight, celebrations are on the agenda, according to Moa Svensson.
- I don’t think the girls were quite as happy as you should be after winning a final. So my mission is to lift the mood and take it to proper party level, she said.
