Living Together Makes the Tournament More Than Just Matches

For many teams, staying in schools is an obvious part of the experience during Gothia Cup. – It’s really fun to stay at a school, you meet a lot of friends from other countries, says Alrasya Muntazar Allan Putra Aning from the Indonesian team Akademi Persib Cimahi.

At Oscar Fredriksskolan, there is a calm atmosphere between matches. Mattresses are laid out in the classrooms, and teammates socialize, recover, and prepare for the next kick-off. Here, the Indonesian Academy Persib Cimahi resides during the tournament week. When the team returns from their latest match, a 1-0 victory against Swedish Kalmar FF, the mood is good. For the players, the stay is not just about football, but also about the camaraderie that is created when the whole team lives together.

Alrasya Muntazar Allan Putra Aning shares that the school accommodation is one of the highlights of the week.
– I think it’s really fun to stay here with the team. We have met many new friends, including from Brazil and France, he says.

Meetings with other teams become a natural part of everyday life. In the school corridors, dining halls, and playgrounds, players from different countries come together, creating opportunities to get to know people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

He also highlights the environment at the school. Living together with the team throughout the week makes it easy to socialize even between matches, and he expresses his appreciation for how clean and well-organized it is.

School accommodations have long been an important part of Gothia Cup's setup. For many participants, they are a place where friendships are formed, experiences are shared, and team spirit is strengthened between matches. At the same time, they are a central aspect of the tournament's ability to welcome thousands of players from around the world and provide them with a shared experience that extends well beyond the football field.
