Gothia Special Olympics Trophy is growing together with Elektroskandia Sweden

The electrical technology wholesaler Elektroskandia Sweden AB, which is part of the Sonepar Group, is since 2023 Official Partner of the world's largest youth football tournament.

Now the partnership is being expanded and Elektroskandia Sweden AB will become the main partner for Gothia Special Olympics Trophy.

Gothia Special Olympics Trophy (GSOT) is a special category in Gothia Cup for young people with some form of intellectual disability. And that is the category that Elektroskandia Sweden enters as main partner now when they have extended the partnership with another three years as a Premium Partner.

Thanks to Elektroskandia Sweden's increased investment in Gothia Special Olympics Trophy, the tournament will now have greater resources to use in order to take the special category forward.

– Gothia Special Olympics Trophy is a part of Gothia Cup which is very close to our hearts, and it is with pleasure that we welcome Elektroskandia Sweden in its extended partnership. Now together we can ensure the development of this category over time, says Gothia Cup's event director Anders Albertsson.

Elektroskandia Sweden sees the partnership as natural as Gothia Cup's values harmonize well with those within the company. The parties also have a consensus around four of the UN's global goals: good health and well-being, gender equality, reduced inequality and combating climate change.

– We're proud to increase our involvement in Gothia Cup through the new three-year agreement, which means that we will become a Premium Partner as well as the main partner for GSOT, says Anders Nordlöw, CEO of Elektroskandia Sweden AB.

Gothia Special Olympics Trophy was founded by the long-time national team midfielder Kim Källström back in 2011. He's very positive about the fact that Gothia Cup now has the opportunity to develop the category even more – in close cooperation with Elektroskandia Sweden.

– It means a lot to me that a partner steps up this way and supports our fantastic category in Gothia Cup. It gives us an opportunity to refine Gothia Special Olympics Trophy and make it an even more joyful and positive experience for the participants, says Kim Källström, founder of GSOT.

The Special Olympics organization believes that Elektroskandia Sweden's entry as the new main partner for the category can result in even more joy for the young participants.

– Gothia Special Olympics Trophy shows true power of inclusion through football. Players with intellectual disabilities delivering pure love to football, positive emotions, determination, and respect. With Elektroskandia Sweden as the new main partner, we can look into brighter future to bring the next generation of youngsters, says Miroslaw Krogulec, director, sports & organizational development at Special Olympics.
