On Sunday, Swedish national team goalkeeper Zećira Mušović is participating in SKF’s opening event Meet the World in Gothenburg. The tournament is an initiative held in around twenty countries where SKF operates and offers young players the opportunity to qualify for the Gothia Cup.

Zećira Mušović, who recently returned to Sweden after several years with Chelsea FC in England – where she won five consecutive league titles – meets with around 400 young players during the event. She speaks with the participants, shares her experiences, and encourages them to chase their dreams – both on and off the pitch.
– The last few times I’ve been playing in the European Championship, but this year is different. It feels strange not to be with the national team, but it’s because of something even bigger than football, says Mušović, who is currently in her ninth month of pregnancy. My teammates keep me updated, so I’m following the tournament from the sidelines with joy.

She also shares her own memories of playing in the Gothia Cup as a young player. Zećira Mušović describes it as an experience marked by community, new perspectives, and encounters with people from all over the world.
– I don’t just remember the matches, but everything around them – the cultures, the people, and the friends I made, she says.

To this year’s young participants, she offers a clear message: to make the most of the Gothia Cup by being open, present, and curious.
– Be curious about yourselves and the people around you. Make new friends, have fun, and play to win, says Zećira Mušović.

Meet the World is part of the Gothia Cup’s global network and serves as a pathway into the tournament for youth around the world. Through the initiative, SKF aims to promote inclusion and create opportunities for young people to grow – both as athletes and as individuals.
