Tournament information GSOT

Gothia Special Olympics Trophy, as well as Gothia Cup, is a tournament where the meeting between youths from different countries and cultures are a priority. We therefore kindly ask, that teams which are interested in participating in the tournament does not have an elite focus in their organization. This is a lead to equal the level of the teams that are participating in the tournament.

Who can participate

In Gothia Special Olympics Trophy teams that are members of the Special Olympic program are welcome. All players must have an intellectual disability.

We welcome both male, female and mixed teams.

Players must be between 16 and 29 years old, born between 1996 and 2009, since this is a youth tournament and the recommended age is however 16-21 years.

A maximum of ten players can be registered in each team.

Number of teams in the tournament

The Gothia Special Olympics Trophy can accept 15 Scandinavian and 15 international teams, i.e. a total of 30 teams out of which 22 teams with accommodation. Teams that first register and pay the registration fee will have priority.

Which is the last date to register?

Deadline for making a registration is April 10th. Please note that teams who have registered and paid their registration fee first will be given priority when we reach the maximum number of teams in the class.

Costs and fees 2025

Registration fee: €110 per team. The fee is compulsory for all participating teams, and non refundable.
Accommodation cost: €180 per person

School accommodation

Everyone staying at the school, players and leaders, has to pay the accommodation cost. This cost is inclusive of lodging in school class rooms for four nights, twelve meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and Gothia Card. Bring your own mattress. Mattresses and bedding can be rented to a cost of €30 per person. We urge all participants and leaders to never leave valuables or money unattended at the school.

Special food

For persons with special food needs or allergies we are able to arrange this. If you wish to order vegetarian food the cost is €XX per person. Please note that we don’t serve any dishes that contains nuts (including peanuts, almonds and sesame) or pork.

Transportation within Gothenburg

The schools are located close to the venues (Kviberg and Heden) where the matches will be held. The teams will use public transportation or go on foot. You can use the public transportation with the Gothia Card that will be handed to you upon arrival at the school.

Transfer

Return transfer between the airport, train station or ferry terminal in Gothenburg and your accommodation is included in the accommodation cost. Note that there is only one return transfer per team/group included. The transfer is exclusively for teams, and NOT for accompanying families and friends. Transfer must be booked in advance at Gothia Account and can only be booked for minimum ten persons per group.

Gothia Account

All registered teams have their own team page at Gothia Account. Several leaders can connect their Gothia ID to the same team page at Gothia Account. On your team page you will update your registration, place orders, fill out the list of participants, make payments and see your balance. Please note that each team is responsible for deadlines of when information, orders and similar are to be submitted.

Check in online

All teams have to check in online at Gothia Account before their arrival to the tournament. The online check in can be done by the earliest on July 2nd and by the latest on July 12th. Please observe, that you must bring your booking confirmation and possible vouchers that you have printed to the tournament to collect your orders.

July 17th: Play offs, finals, prize ceremony* and departure day

*The prize ceremony on July 17th is estimated to be finished by 13.00, we therefore kindly ask teams to book their departure later than this if possible. Teams that have booked transfer to Landvetter Airport will be picked up at the school three hours before their departure time. Teams that have booked transfer to the Central Station or Ferry terminal will be picked up two hours before to their departure time.

Payments

The registration fee must be paid within ten days of submitting the registration online. Once we receive the payment of your registration fee we will confirm your registration.

The accommodation cost/participation fee must be paid no later than May 10th. If the accommodation cost/participation fee has not been paid for within five days after its due date the Gothia Cup has the right to cancel your registration without any right to a refund or compensation for the registered team or club. For hotel accommodation see your booking confirmation.

Note that all bank transaction fees must be paid for by the team. Please observe that we do not accept any personal or company cheques.

Cancellation

If you need to cancel your registration, email info@gothiacup.se and note your registration number. The registration fee is non refundable.

In case a player or leader must cancel the accommodation cost is only refundable if the cancellation is made at the lastest May 10th. After May 10th a doctor's notice is required to get the accommodation cost refunded. 

Insurance

The team manager in charge is obligated to ensure that all participants are insured on the pitch. Each participant is responsible for his/her personal insurance off the pitch. Participants from countries that have no medical insurance agreement with Sweden must have personal medical insurance. Neither Gothia Cup nor the organizer has collective insurance to cover injuries, illness, theft or damages.
