Borgeby FK won the G14 final: “It feels amazing”
After a close match with many goals, the game was decided by penalties.
Borgeby FK emerged victorious in the G14 final after winning on penalties against Enskede IK.
- We played well, had a lot of energy, and fought for each other, says Ebba Arén, the team's goalkeeper.
The first half began at SFK Arena with high energy. After 11 minutes, Borgeby FK was awarded a corner kick taken with utmost precision. The cross found Elin Björk, who neatly headed the ball in to make it 1-0.
Shortly after the second half started, Borgeby FK was awarded a free kick just outside the penalty area. They took a hard shot that was saved by Enskede's goalkeeper, but not caught. On the rebound, Borgeby's Signe Ingemarsson was first to the ball and easily placed it into the net for a 2-0 lead.
A lot happened during the match, and Enskede IK was chasing both a reduction and an equalizer, which they managed to achieve. Within a span of 2 minutes, Enskede scored 2 goals, bringing the match level again. The goals were scored by Vanda Hjort and Alva Söderkvist.
- Enskede played well. They fought hard and had good passing play, Ebba continues.
Both teams showed great spirit, and neither gave up. In the 38th minute, Borgeby FK made a nice play to Signe Ingemarsson, who calmly scored her second goal of the match, giving Borgeby FK a 3-2 lead.
Enskede IK kept fighting and, minutes later, equalized to 3-3, which also became the final score of the match during regular time.
The match was decided by penalties, where Borgeby FK emerged as the winners.
- We were nervous about the penalties, but we handled it. It feels absolutely fantastic, Ebba concludes before she heads off to celebrate with her team.
