FC Slovácko from Czech Republic is proud to participate in Gothia Cup
The Czech top team FC Slovácko makes history as the first-ever G17 team from their country to compete in the prestigious Puma Trophy at Gothia Cup.
In their home country, FC Slovácko boasts an impressive track record, and this year, they have ventured to Sweden to participate in the elite class of Puma Trophy at the world's leading youth football tournament with their G17 squad.
Miroslav Zboril, the team's coach and leader of the club's girls' academy, realizes the significant impact that Gothia Cup has on his players during the competition.
– It's an exciting experience for our players to come here and spend a week together at Gothia Cup. It truly strengthens the team's camaraderie because we get to face high-quality opponents from around the world, but also because of all the amazing experiences off the pitch, he says.
Matilda Sluková, a player in the team, wholeheartedly agrees with her coach.
– It's incredibly fun to compete against teams from so many different countries, and there's always a great atmosphere in the stands, which adds to the excitement. I've made several new friends and created wonderful memories to take back home to the Czech Republic. Above all, Gothia Cup is an opportunity to relish the sport I love, she enthuses.
Both Zboril and Sluková believe that more Czech teams should embrace the chance to come to Gothenburg and experience Gothia Cup. Sluková emphasizes the immense value of stepping beyond their country's borders to play football.
– Playing football in an international environment like here at Gothia Cup is an invaluable experience. We learn a lot and have the chance to showcase our skills, she concludes.
