Gothia Cup

FK Lillehammer won the B18 final: "It feels incredibly good"

They won the last final of the day at Gamla Ullevi.

The last final at Gamla Ullevi was played between the English team Jusball FC and the Norwegian team FK Lillehammer in the B18 category. The Norwegians emerged victorious.
– It feels incredibly good, says Sigve Rustad.

The final in the B18 category had a tentative start. The teams were feeling each other out, and not many dangerous chances were created. It wasn't until the 18th minute that either team came close to breaking the deadlock when FK Lillehammer had a shot that went just wide of the post. The Norwegians established some pressure towards the end of the half, but it remained goalless at the break.
– It was a first half very much influenced by nerves where neither team really dared to push forward, says Sigve Rustad.

In the 38th minute, the Norwegians broke the deadlock. Sigve Rustad rose highest on a free kick taken from midfield and was able to head in the 1-0 goal into an open net. The match then became more intense, and Jusball had several chances to equalize. However, Lillehammer managed to hold on and are thus the winners of the B18 category.
– It feels incredibly good to win the Gothia Cup. We've participated in several tournaments where we've come up just short, so it feels good to finally win something so big, says Sigve Rustad.

Sigve Rustad was named the MVP of the final.
– It feels really great to receive an award like this, but it's primarily the team that made this possible, he says.
