Gothia Cup

Higher interest than ever in Gothia Cup 2024

New records were set when Gothia Cup opened the registration for the tournament next summer. The category for the local teams was filled immediately upon opening. In total, around 900 teams from ten countries submitted their application to Gothia Cup already on the first day.

The registration for Gothia Cup 2024 opened on Wednesday and we immediately noticed a record-breaking interest. The very first to register was Norrby IF's B14 team.

Registration barely had time to open at 10 AM before the category D for local teams was fully booked. Never before has this category been filled in less than a minute. In total, around 900 teams submitted their application for Gothia Cup 2024 during the first day of registration. Teams from Canada, England, France, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and USA have already secured their place and teams from many more countries have shown interest in participating in the tournament.
– It's fun to see the enormous interest in Gothia Cup. It's great to see that the interest is increasing, year after year. Now we're starting to prepare for Gothia Cup 2024, says the tournament director Niclas Andersson Freiholtz.

Quickest of them all was Norrby IF's B14 team. They were the very first team to sign up for the 2024 Gothia Cup.
– For us, Gothia Cup is a valued tournament for both players, leaders and parents. It was a given to set the clock to get a place. The fact that we're also reigning champions in the B14 category gives the tournament an extra spice for our academy, says academy director Fredrik Samuelsson, who registered the team.
