“I’m proud to say that I took part in Gothia Cup”
Through Meet the World, SKF has sponsored over 4,000 people from all over the world, for a once-in-a-lifetime chance to travel to Gothenburg and compete in Gothia Cup. Ana Bral, 23, from Portugal is one of those 4,000 people who got this chance. She got it not only once, but four times.
Ana represented SKF Portugal in Gothia Cup from 2012 to 2014 as a player, and in 2015 as a staff member. It has been eight years since Ana’s first experience in Gothia Cup. So where is Ana now and how has Gothia Cup impacted her life?
Ana finished her studies in 2016 and has been working since. She is currently in Portugal playing for Atletico CP but will soon need to leave the club behind to support her mother.
When looking back on Gothia Cup, Ana reflects:
“There’s nothing I’m prouder to say than that I took part in Gothia Cup. It enriches us individually and culturally. My best memories are the friendship and the contact I had with other cultures. Even today I talk with people who participated in the Gothia Cup and who are now football professionals in their respective countries.”
In short, her main takeaway from Gothia Cup is the reality of what women’s football was and what it could be.
Ana’s story shows that Gothia Cup is truly a meeting place, where friendships and unforgettable memories are created, irrespective of gender and other differences.
