Legacy Academy – Aiming for the final victory
The Kenyan team Legacy Academy remains unbeaten in the Boys 13 category at this year’s Gothia Cup. On Friday, they secured yet another win at Heden, defeating French side Championnet Sports 2–0.

Legacy Academy continues to impress in the B13 category and has maintained a perfect record throughout the tournament so far. On Friday, the team claimed its seventh consecutive victory, defeating France’s Championnet Sports 2–0 on the pitches at Heden. This marks the third time Legacy Academy has participated in the Gothia Cup, and their previous experience seems to be paying off through strong team performance and consistent results.
The team’s coach, Derrick Ochieng Otieno, expresses great optimism about their chances in the playoffs. He notes that the team has grown significantly and that the players are both focused and motivated to continue performing at a high level.
– The players have shown they have both talent and determination throughout the tournament – we’re keeping the energy and motivation up. They’re incredibly driven, says Derrick Ochieng Otieno.
Participating in the Gothia Cup also holds great significance beyond the pitch. For many of the players, it’s a unique opportunity to meet youth from all over the world and experience an international football environment.
– It’s a major experience for many of our players to compete at this level and meet others who share the same passion for football, says Derrick Ochieng Otieno.
Legacy Academy has also received strong support from spectators during their matches. Their games have drawn packed stands, with enthusiastic fans cheering the team on – something that, according to Derrick Ochieng Otieno, gives the players an extra boost of energy and joy on the field.
– It’s a great feeling to show the world what Legacy Academy stands for and what kind of football we’re capable of playing, he adds.
