Gothia Cup

Logaen is a referee - like her father

Celebrate the Game is a fair play project that Gothia Cup runs together with our partner Länsförsäkringar, to create a better environment and a better climate for everyone, on and off the pitch.

Being a referee is a fun position but it's not without its difficulties. Logaen Rahmoun has just started her journey as a referee and she is enjoying herself and always learning new things, walking in her father's footsteps.

Fresh from having covered a game, Logaen Rahmoun, 18 years old, reflects on her position as a referee.
– Being a referee is really fun, but you have a lot of responsibility. You want to be as fair as possible. There is always someone who is disappointed so that is hard, but you just try your best and improve with every game. You always learn new things, says Logaen.

Logaen started her qualifications last year, and this is her first season as a referee. She has her father to thank for being put on the path.
– He has been a referee for five years and he was the one that got me started. My father is my role model. He is always with me, coaching me all the time, says Logaen.

Her father is not the only one who enjoys the position. Refereeing runs in the family.
– My uncle is a referee, my cousin as well, and my little sister just started to try it out as well, says Logaen.

Her favourite experiences refereeing have been when everyone is enjoying themselves.
– Sometimes everyone end up happy - parents, coaches, players, and you feel like you have done a good job, says Logaen.

Her dad was the one recommending her to try out working at Gothia Cup. He has been refereeing at the tournament before and he told her about how much fun it was. Logaen has been enjoying the community around the tournament, talking in different languages, and making new friends. She has also learned a lot already.
– The people responsible for us today have a lot of experience and I am learning so much from them, Logaen says.
