Gothia Cup celebrates 50 years with a photo exhibition at Heden

Fifty years ago, the first Gothia Cup match was played. Today, it is the world's largest youth football tournament. The journey there is presented in an exhibition at Heden in connection with the tournament about its unique history.

Dennis Andersson, Secretary General of Gothia Cup, has been involved since the tournament's inception. He sees the exhibition as providing a unique insight into how the tournament has evolved over the years.
– We want to convey the very essence of Gothia Cup and what has made the tournament so successful. Gothia Cup is known throughout the football world as a place for inclusion and diversity. Regardless of religion, culture, or skin color, everyone should be able to come to Gothenburg for a week to play football, but also to live together and learn from one another, that has been our guiding star since we started, and it is what we want to convey with this exhibition.

Much has changed since Gothia Cup first started, both within football and in the world around us. But the vision that has made the tournament so successful has always remained the same. A place that brings people together through football.
– The exhibition is about all the young people, leaders, and parents who have been involved over the years and contributed to our history, says Dennis Andersson.
