Polarbröd continues to strengthen Gothia Cup's sustainability work

In January, Polarbröd became an Official Partner to Gothia Cup. The parties have now agreed on an extension of the partnership.

Thanks to the contract extension, Gothia Cup can further strengthen the tournament's sustainability work and continue the work for a more sustainable future.

Gothia Cup puts a lot of effort into working with sustainability and reducing the tournament's climate impact. A job that is becoming increasingly important, and which is also having an increasingly greater effect, as the tournament continues to grow. That Polarbröd now chooses to extend its partnership with Gothia Cup provides both the conditions and resources to gear up the work even further.
– We're very happy that Polarbröd is extending its partnership with Gothia Cup and gives us the opportunity to continue to maintain a high level of our sustainability work. In addition, we can proudly continue to serve first-class bread from North Sweden to all our players and leaders who live in our school accommodation, says Thomas Anderson, sales director for Gothia Cup.

Polarbröd's bakeries are 100 percent electric and their five own wind turbines produce more renewable energy than the bakeries use. All packaging is recyclable and largely made of bioplastic, and the bread is transported by electric trains from the bakeries. In addition, Polarbröd's products meet the requirements for From Sweden labeling and most of the purchased flour is grown in ways that have less climate impact and favor biological diversity.

Thanks to Polarbröd freezing the bread directly from the oven, they can also bake a lot at the same time, which means less energy consumption and less waste. Together, Polarbröd and Gothia Cup work to fulfill the 13th global goal regarding combating climate change.

– We would like to thank for the great response our participation has received, both in terms of the event space and the bread for the servings. For us, it is obvious to extend the partnership with Gothia Cup, says Maria Eriksson, Marketing Area Manager for Polarbröd.

For Gothia Cup, common goals and values are fundamental in successful partnerships. There, it is gratifying that Polarbröd will remain as Official Partner, so that the parties can continue to work actively for the climate and a more sustainable future together, says Fredrik Andersson, sustainability manager for Gothia Cup.

– We want to serve healthy and responsibly produced food with minimal environmental impact. Polarbröd is therefore a good choice for both our participants and the environment, and we're happy to continue our collaboration, he says.
