Record breaking interest in Gothia Cup 2020

The registration to Gothia Cup 2020 closes in about a month and the interest in the World Youth Cup is high, with many nations breaking their participating records this summer. For the first time ever, teams from Trinidad and Tobago, and from Myanmar will participate in Gothia Cup.

Teams from all over the world are coming to Gothenburg this summer and with new nations this year , Trinidad and Tobago and Myanmar, Gothia Cup is only one new nation away from the amazing number of 150 participating nations since the start in 1975. A nation that may be added before the registration deadline in April.
When the registration opened in September, it only took five minutes for the category for local teams, from Gothenburg, to be fully booked. Today, school or hotel accommodation through Gothia Cup are the alternatives remaining for teams that make their registration in the last minute.

One country that has significantly more teams participating than previous years, is Portugal. Canada and Iceland have also a lot of more participating teams than before.
“It is delighting that the interest in the tournament keeps growing and, above all, that we are seeing an increase from a lot of countries that are already participating”, says Niclas Andersson Freiholtz, Competition General.
“It feels great that the quality-enhancing work we have put extra time and energy on in recent years, now is reflected in the number of teams and not only in customer satisfaction”, he concludes.

The deadline for registration is April 10th.
