Referees from the north at Gothia Cup "The most fun week of the year"
On the field, the matches follow one after another and the referees have been busy all day. Marcus Noterius is on site with around 20 young referees who carefully monitor the game and ensure that the rules are followed. – You develop every day and with every match, says Hugo Danielsson, who is officiating his first tournament at Gothia Cup.

Marcus Noterius is usually a reporter at TV4 but one week a year he takes time off to travel to Gothenburg and Gothia Cup.
– I've lost count by now, I think I've been here for 15 years. It's the most fun week of the year, a celebration full of football and so much joy, says Marcus Noterius.
Gothia Cup is used by several regional referee initiatives and projects to develop referees. Marcus Notarius is at Gothia Cup as leader for the Jämtland referees, a group consisting of about 20 young referees from the Swedish region of Jämtland, Sundsvall, and Umeå.
– For me, the best part is seeing the development of the referees. The games are fun, but they are also tough with many difficult decisions. I get to see how the guys officiate on Monday, and by Friday they are completely different referees because they have developed so much, says Marcus Noterius.

Hugo Danielsson is one of the young talents among the Jämtland referees. He has been a referee for three seasons, but this is his first year at Gothia Cup. Hugo started his career as a player but when his brother began officiating football, he quickly realized that he was better suited for the role of a referee.
– I have played football my whole life, but I wasn't very good, and I probably wasn't very nice to the referee either. But since I tried officiating, I’ve been hooked, says Hugo Danielsson.
And he doesn't think it will be the last time he officiates at Gothia Cup.
– It is so much fun, you develop every day and with every match. I have great referee colleagues, there are nice teams and fun matches.
