Spanish team Burgos CF were crowned champions after a hard fought match
The B15 final at SKF Arena was decided when Spanish team Burgos CF triumphed over Swedish team BK Höllviken/Skanör Falsterbo IF Black.
In the largest category of the Gothia Cup, a total of 262 teams from 29 different nations competed in the massive B15 class. Now, only two teams remained, and the final was a thriller.
After a back-and-forth game where both teams created chances, the first half ended without a goal being scored by either the Swedish or Spanish side. The tension on the sun-drenched stands at the SKF Arena was palpable.
In the middle of the second half, however, the Spanish team managed to penetrate the Swedish defense and scored a close-range goal, with Diego Herrero Hoyuelos as the scorer.
When the final whistle echoed across the SKF Arena, a loud celebration broke out, and chants of "vamos" and "campeones" echoed from the stands.
– Winning this fantastic tournament in front of a packed crowd is a dream come true, says player Beltran Perez Trean.
– The opponents played well, especially in the first half, but after the goal, we were the better team. Tonight, we will celebrate big time, concludes Perez Trean.
