The best experience of our lives
Every year, SKF brings kids from all over the world to participate in the Gothia Cup. This is our biggest Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project. We have been doing this since 2007, and we love it!
To see the joy and excitement, knowing that we are making a difference in people’s lives, is something that we are immensely proud of. It is our responsibility as a big company to do good- and with Gothia Cup, who share a lot of our core values, we have found an excellent way to do so!
There are endless examples of joyful stories from Gothia Cup and the letter below is one of them.
This is what Chile wrote to us after last year’s tournament:
THE BEST EXPERIENCE OF OUR LIVES
"Academia Sebastian Roco" represented SKF Chile in the Gothia Cup in the Sub 11 category in 2023.
For SKF, this championship was different than any other due to the greater participation of the team. They got victories in almost all their games, against teams from Sweden, Germany, Brazil, Croatia, the United States, France, Greece, Iceland, Mexico, Mongolia, Singapore and Switzerland. Furthermore, they got a historic and unprecedented outcome among Chilean teams representing SKF in previous years, qualifying for finals where they obtained 2nd place (Silver Medal) in the competition at that level. This achievement was unimaginable for the children!
It is worth noting and expressing gratitude for the tremendous support from the Chilean community in Gothenburg and nearby areas, who accompanied our young athletes in all their matches with joy, Chilean flags, and football chants, capturing the attention of the local audience.
"We felt like locals at the Gothia Cup, with the stands filled, cheering us on even after the match ended. It was challenging to achieve what we did; there were teams with excellent technical skills, but we gave our all and became runners-up in this tournament," says Benjamin Barriga, a team member.
"If you dream big and work towards it, you can achieve even more than you thought possible!" This is what the representatives of SKF Chile demonstrated at the 2023 Gothia Cup.
