The fourth Gothia Cup China starts tomorrow

The smoke has barely settled after this years Gothia Cup. But already tomorrow Gothia Cup China begins. “It’s gratifying to again experience the special spirit of Gothia Cup and this time on the other side of the globe”, says Dennis Andersson, general secretary of Gothia Cup and guest of honor at the tournament in China.

It’s the fourth time that Gothia Cups sister tournament is held in China. It’s based on the same idea as the Gothia Cup – to create a meeting place for children and adolescents.

“It’s the teams and participants from all over the world that make Gothia Cup unique and the fact that the tournament since a few years also is held in China show how meeting places creates – which is the purpose with Gothia Cup”, says Dennis Andersson.

340 teams from 36 countries participate in this years Gothia Cup China which is held in Qingdao, a city with nine millions inhabitants in the eastern part of the country. For a week, football will be played on 42 differents venues and winners in 15 classifications will be crowned. But Gothia Cup is as always much more than just football.

“I’m hoping for a week filled with joy and football but I also encourage the participants to take the chance to to meet new people and thereby maybe create friendship that will last for a life time”, says Dennis Andersson.
