Throttur FC 1 emerged victorious in the G16 final after a 3-0 win after penalties against Lerums IS at Gamla Ullevi.

The first half at Gamla Ullevi was evenly matched. Throttur FC had a few goal opportunities but ended the half scoreless, just like Lerums IS. Throttur FC looked stronger in the first half, but it remained goalless at halftime. Despite this, cheers and drums from the audience were frequently heard in the stadium.
– It was a really tough match, both teams did really well, says goalkeeper Ninna Björk Þorsteinsdóttir, who was awarded with the Most Valuable Player prize.

The second half began with Lerums IS coming out strong. However, it was a cautious start with few goal chances. In the last minutes, both teams had a goal opportunity, but they amounted to nothing more. The match was characterized by several tackles, free kicks, and great footwork.

After regular time ended 0-0, the teams prepared for penalties. Ninna Björk Þorsteinsdóttir from Throttur FC made a phenomenal performance as a goalkeeper, saving two consecutive penalties. Throttur FC then won the penalty shootout and the Gothia Cup 2024.
– It's an unreal experience, and it was an honor to play in this stadium, she says.

A final win means a lot to the team's goalkeeper, who will now celebrate the win in this year's Gothia Cup with her teammates.
– We have to go home and pack now, but I hope for a big party with the whole team later, concludes Ninna Björk Þorsteinsdóttir.
