Tough opposition right away for DKI Jakarta
In Gothenburg, teams from all over the world gather for the Gothia Special Olympics Trophy. Varel Affandi is playing in his first tournament and gets to face teams from countries he has never played against before. – We look forward to Germany, he says.

Gothia Special Olympics Trophy has been a part of Gothia Cup since 2011. This year is no exception. 50 teams from 16 nations are taking part, including Hong Kong, Indonesia, France, Estonia and Turkmenistan. The tournament is aimed at players with intellectual disabilities and aims to create opportunities for more people to compete on equal terms.
Teams first play a divisioning round to be matched with opponents of similar ability in the group stage.
– The games are difficult. But we are so happy to be here. Thank you Sweden, says Varel Affandi.
DKI Jakarta from Indonesia faced Swedish team Kungsbacka IF on Kviberg 2A in a close match that ended 1–1. Both teams started the group stage by sharing the points. DKI Jakarta are looking forward to the upcoming matches and the chance to play against teams from other countries.

The tournament also draws support from several key partners, including Sonepar.

The group stage is played on the pitches at Kviberg on Tuesday and Wednesday. The playoffs and finals will be held on 17 July at Heden.
