Vikingur 1 won and was handed the trophy by the president of Iceland

The B16 final between the two Icelandic teams Stjarnan 1 and Vikingur 1 ended the Gothia Cup 2022. Vikingur 1 won the dramatic final on penalties and was handed the trophy by Iceland’s president Gudni Th. Jóhannesson.
– I can’t believe it, says the captain Ketill Gudlaugur Agutsson.

The game at Gamla Ullevi was goalless after the first half. The atmosphere was great and, of course, the Icelanders made “the volcano” in the stands. Vikingur 1 had a great chance in the 42nd minute but the shot went outside the post. Stjarnan 1 hit the crossbar two minutes later. The ball was so close to cross the goal line. It was a close game that ended with penalties. And Vikingur 1 won. The players were so happy after their big win.
– We have won every single game in the tournament. I’m so happy, I can’t believe it. We almost can’t feel our feet, we’re so tired, says the proud captain Ketill Gudlaugur Agutsson.
The president Gudni Th. Jóhannesson watched the game and then he handed the trophy to the winning team.
