Gothia Cup
The world arrives to Gothenburg for Gothia Cup
Tomorrow, Gothia Cup finally begins and Gothenburg is filled with teams from all corners of the world. At Landvetter Airport, the players are welcomed by arrival hosts. – If I can, I try to say something in their language to make them feel extra welcome, says Ange Kouadio, one of the arrival hosts.
When the teams arrive at Landvetter, the work begins for the arrival hosts. They make sure the teams find their way after the journey and guide them to the buses that take them to their accommodation for the week.
– We make sure they get settled, are welcomed in a friendly maner and show them the way to the right bus so they get to the right place, says Savia Mustafa.
Already at the airport, it becomes clear what an international meeting place Gothia Cup is. Teams from a total of 78 nations are represented in this year’s Gothia Cup, and for the arrival hosts it is a reminder of the size of the tournament before the first match has even been played.
– You really get to see how many teams are taking part and how big it is. It is amazing to see people from so many different countries gather in the same place. You really realise how big the tournament is and how many people have travelled here to take part, says Ange Kouadio.
