Hammarby IF FF Cluthed up to bring home the Gothia Cup Trophy

The G14 final between Icelandic KA1 and Swedish Hammarby IF FF was a nail-biter that ended with jubilant Hammarby celebrations.

Both teams had shown immense strength throughout the tournament before reaching the final of the G14 category. In a very close game, it wasn't until late in the second half that a decisive moment arrived when Hammarby was awarded a penalty kick.

In a low-scoring yet highly entertaining match, Ellie Junetoft stepped up to take the penalty in the final minute of the game. The crowd at the SKF Arena held their breath in nervous anticipation, but Junetoft remained composed.
– I wasn't actually nervous; I just knew I had to score, and I did, said the matchwinner.

Not surprisingly, Junetoft was awarded the prize for the most valuable player of the match for her achievement.
– It feels incredible to stand here as a Gothia Cup winner. It's truly a dream come true, she said.

– The match was tough, and KA1 played well, but I'm incredibly proud of the team for doing everything required to win throughout the tournament and adjusting our game based on the opposition, she concluded.
