Gothia Cup

Kjelås IL from Norway headed their way to the Gothia Cup title

The thrilling G13 final at the SKF Arena featured Norwegian team Kjelås IL and French team OGC Nice.

In true final spirit, the first half was closely contested in front of the spectators at the SKF Arena. It was evident that neither the Norwegians nor the French were willing to give up without a fight. Both teams played an entertaining and attacking style of football, creating plenty of opportunities.

Just before halftime, the Norwegian team scored though a well played corner. After a failed clearance, the ball found its way to Ebba Asbjørnsen and with great composure, she headed the ball into the top corner, giving Kjelås IL a one-goal lead going into the second half.

In the second half, the Norwegians managed to withstand the initial pressure from the French with great skill. Instead of an equalizer, Kjelås IL extended their lead, once again through Asbjørnsen's goal-scoring forehead. Her two well-taken headers earned her the coveted title of the match's most valuable player.
– It feels incredible, I am very proud of both my team and my two goals. I have a good heading ability, and it's fantastic to contribute to our victory, she said with a smile.

– I never thought we would go all the way and become Gothia Cup champions, but I am incredibly happy and grateful right now. We played really well and won all our matches. Tonight, we're going to celebrate big time, concluded the jubilant Gothia Cup champion.
