Kosovo Wins Best Costume Award at Gothia Cup 2026
This year's winners from Kosovo wore traditional national costumes in white, black, and red. The white trousers, the red vests adorned with the black Albanian double eagle, and the distinctive white felt hats created a strong visual expression. The costumes are an important part of Kosovo's cultural heritage, symbolizing pride, history, and community – values that the team wanted to share with the world's largest youth tournament.
The award was presented by Flutra Cela, who has roots in Kosovo herself, making the moment particularly meaningful for the players and coaches.
– It feels fantastic to win the Best Costume Award. We are very happy and proud to represent our country in this way, says Blin Muhaxher from the Kosovo team.
He shares that the choice of clothing was clear even before the trip to Gothenburg.
– The costumes are our traditional folk costumes. We wanted to wear them to honor our country in the best possible way – and of course, we were also hoping to win the prize.
The team wins free participation for 18 players in the main category, as well as accommodation for them at a school during next year's tournament.
For the team, participating in Gothia Cup is about much more than just the opening ceremony. After a strong start to the tournament, the players believe in their chances on the field as well.
– It feels amazing to play in Gothia Cup, the world's largest youth tournament. We are playing really well right now, and I think we have the opportunity to go all the way, says Blin Muhaxher.
The team has made a promising start to the tournament and looks forward to the upcoming knockout matches. After already making an impression during the opening ceremony, Kosovo now hopes their successes will continue on the football field.
