Gothia Cup

MTV Treubund Lüneburg has participated in Gothia Cup 30 times

Clubs that celebrated big anniversaries in Gothia Cup this year were honored at an event on Friday evening during this year's tournament.

The German club MTV Treubund Lüneburg is one of fours clubs that participated in Gothia Cup for the 30th time this year. The jubilees received nice prizes to remember the achievement.

André Dkhili at MTV Treubund Lüneburg has organized trips to Gothia Cup for many years. The club first travelled to the worlds biggest youth tournament back in 1983, 40 years ago. Since then they have been here 30 times in total. This year, they were here with their B13 team.
– For us, Gothia Cup means a week of great football and lots of fun. Meeting so many people from all over the world and playing football against them is a great experience. Once you've been to Gothia Cup, you always want to go back. Many friendships have been made over the years and it’s nice to see them again every year. Especially the friendship with the Espinosa family from Mexico, which began in 1986 and continues to this day, says André Dkhili.

They have experienced a lot in Gothenburg over the years.
– There are so many beautiful memories and every year is different. But the two years in which we were allowed to represent Germany at the opening ceremony remain unforgettable, he says.
