Scoreless Debut for Intercups MX Against Faaberg Fotball

Intercups MX played a draw in their debut match of Gothia Cup 2024.

The first day of the Gothia Cup tournament kicked off on Monday morning. On Heden 4, Mexican team Intercups MX faced Norwegian team Faaberg Fotball. Intercups MX is not only used to play the Gothia Cup in Gothenburg but also in Cancun, Mexico.

It was a rainy Gothenburg that all the arriving players woke up to. At 8 a.m., the first matches started and the rain didn’t let up. On Heden 4, in the Girls 16 category, Intercups MX played against Faaberg Fotball at 9 a.m.

In the second half, there was a break from the rain, and the sun occasionally peeked through the clouds. The match ended 0-0, but player Luciana Salas Olivares from Intercups MX is still looking forward to scoring many goals during the tournament.

Gothia Cup is no longer just played in Gothenburg, but also in Cancun, Mexico. Luciana has never participated in the tournament in either Mexico or Sweden before, but the team has participated several times. She experiences a big difference playing football in Sweden compared to Mexico.
– In Sweden, they have completely different strategies, and I think it’s because of the different cultures. They have respect for other teams and such, says Luciana after the match.

Intercups MX continues the tournament tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. against Swedish team Bollstanäs SK on the same field as today, Heden 4.
