Thousands of Hours in Motion Highlight Gothia Cup's Impact on Youth Health

– Football is my life, says player Tymur Tolokonnikov from FC Lokomotiv Kyiv. During Gothia Cup 2025, over 231,000 minutes of activity were generated through matches that brought together young people from around the world.

During Gothia Cup 2025, a total of 231,660 minutes of football were played, which corresponds to about 161 days of uninterrupted match time. Behind every minute of play are thousands of young people who run, collaborate, and develop together. The tournament thus contributes not only to international encounters but also to creating extensive physical activity and highlighting the importance of movement for children's and youth's health.

For many participants, football is a natural part of everyday life. Tymur Tolokonnikov from FC Lokomotiv Kyiv describes movement as something fundamental to health. He believes that the body feels better when it is active, and that physical activity strengthens the immune system. At the same time, football is more than just a sport for him.
– Football is my life. Playing is the best, says Tymur Tolokonnikov.

The leader Bohdan Kondratiuk shares that the tournament holds special significance for the team's players, who live under difficult conditions in Ukraine. He describes that opportunities to travel and meet other teams are limited, making international tournaments especially important.

– This tournament means a lot to our children. Here, they get to develop, meet new people, and feel that they are part of a bigger world, says Bohdan Kondratiuk.

He also hopes that the players take home more than just results and accomplishments. According to him, Gothia Cup offers international experiences, new perspectives, and memories that will last long after the final match.

When thousands of matches are played over a week, the cumulative effect is significant. The over 231,000 minutes of movement from Gothia Cup 2025 show how the tournament creates opportunities for young people to be active, while football becomes a meeting place where community, health, and international experiences go hand in hand.
