One day to go. The Gothia Cup Opening Ceremony is just around the corner. Tomorrow night 50 000 people will fill the stands at Ullevi and together celebrate the start of this year’s tournament. For the performers today is the time for some last-minute preparations.
Gothia Cup wouldn’t work without the officials. Married couple Sandra and Mikael Hellström are two of them.
“It’s exciting to be part of the biggest youth tournament in the world”, says Sandra Hellström.
Encouragement, support and not least love – three important things to give to your children regardless if they win or loose on the pitch. Take the opportunity and take our football parent test which we hope will make parents reflect on their behavior around their children who participate in sports.
Gothia Cups new webshop is now online. In the official collection you will find clothes, headwear, bags and accessories.
This is youth football and it is time for all parents to give back the ownership of their experience to the youth. At the same time, we might solve the issues with adults threatening the joy in youth sports.
Meet the World
Za’ba Secondary School won SKF:s Meet The World Tournament in Malaysia and will participate in this years Gothia Cup. The final went all the way to shootout before the victory and the trip to Gothenburg were secured for the team from the city of Kuala Pilah.
Today, the official Gothia Cup song Celebrate the Game is released, a song that is designed to spread joy and to inspire the players as well as the coaching teams, referees and supporters throughout the tournament.
Victory in Gothia Cup looms for the almost 1700 teams that will participate in this year’s tournament. But there are also other trophies worth fighting for.
”With Fair Play Trophy we want to acknowledge teams that convey and contribute to the Gothia Cup spirit, which is all about fair play and treating each other with respect”, says Niclas Freiholtz, competition manager.
