Gothia Cup wants to make an update about the current situation, because of the outbreak of the new coronavirus. This message has today been sent to all our participant teams:
Since the outbreak of a new coronavirus, Gothia Cup wants to inform our participating teams about the situation.
The registration to Gothia Cup 2020 closes in about a month and the interest in the World Youth Cup is high, with many nations breaking their participating records this summer.
For the first time ever, teams from Trinidad and Tobago, and from Myanmar will participate in Gothia Cup.
Twelve foreign teams will be invited to this year’s edition of Gothia Puma Trophy. They will compete against the same number of Swedish teams.
“It is very inspiring for us to participate”, says Robert Nordström, Academy Manager at Halmstads BK.
Meet the World
It’s that time of year again where SKF Meet the World tournaments will be held all over the world. SKF Canada are among those who are preparing to host their yearly Meet the World tournament. It will take place in Fort McMurray, a city that has been hit hard by forest fires over the last years.
Through sports and social activities, the leaders at CF Gothia, the sports school in Brazzaville, want to keep children off the street – a life often characterized by violence and crime. Ten-year-old Paul is one of those kids. In conversation with our volunteer on site, Sture Genemo, he says that he only dreams of one thing:
“I want to become a football professional like Messi!” he says.
Gothia Cup is looking for referees for the world’s largest and most international youth tournament, which takes place July 12-18 in Gothenburg. Submit your application to be a part of our teams of referees.
In the hit series about the young footballer Jamie Johnson, several episodes in the latest season takes place in the Gothia Cup. One episode has been nominated in the prestigious Broadcast Awards.
“It feels fantastic, but the most important thing for us is that the series has had a big impact on those who have seen it”, says Sam Talbot, executive producer.
The Gothia Special Olympics Trophy will mark ten years in next year’s tournament. It will also premiere a new category
”The interest for a separate girl category is big enough that we can now do this, which is very fun”, says competition manager Niclas Andersson Freiholtz
