The Gothia Special Olympics Trophy will mark ten years in next year’s tournament. It will also premiere a new category ”The interest for a separate girl category is big enough that we can now do this, which is very fun”, says competition manager Niclas Andersson Freiholtz
Our volunteers at the sports school CF Gothia in Congo-Brazzaville, Nils and Sture, have sent a new greeting. This time they’ve met Judi, who is responsible for the school’s important social activities.
Brommapojkarnas team 1 in B13 scored a total of 82 goals during this summer’s Gothia Cup and with that they were the best of all teams in the tournament. On average, they scored nine goals per game. ”In terms of results, this is the strongest team in the history of Brommapojkarna”, says team leader Roger Reinholdsson.
Sandra Westman and Joel Sjödén met for the first time at the opening ceremony at Gothia Cup 2008. Ten years later, also on the opening day of the Gothia Cup, their daughter Belle was born. “It’s awesome and almost unlikely that the baby arrived on the same day as the inauguration”, says Sandra Westman.
The registration for Gothia eCup FIFA 20 is open and welcomes players from 12 years old. Make sure to sign up for the tournament and take your game to the next level.
This weekend a new semester started for the around 300 children that attend CF Gothia Sport school in Congo-Brazzaville. Swedes Nils and Sture are at the school as volunteers during this term and they recount about their first time in the country.
With football as a tool, Sumet Kaewtipnet has dedicated his entire adult life caring for orphans. ”I’ve always been driven by helping children who have difficulties in life”, he says.
SKF has extended its sponsorship of Gothia Cup and will continue as main partner. Together, they are now looking into how to develope the cooperation for the next three years. Both parties priority is to increase the capacity of SKF Arena at Heden 2020.
For one week every year, Gothenburg, Sweden is consumed by football fever as the Gothia Cup takes hold of the city – and the Gothia Special Olympics Trophy is right at the heart of it!
