Despite the Corona pandemic – great interest in Gothia Cup 2021

Today, Gothia Cup opened the registration for the tournament next summer. The spots for local teams were filled within a few minutes as usual and some foreign teams hung on the lock. The first team to register were AD Almada from Portugal and after a few hours more than 500 teams from 20 countries were registered for Gothia Cup 2021.

The activities at CF Gothia in Brazzaville are up and running again

In March our sport school in Congo-Brazzaville had to close due to the corona pandemic outbreak but during the summer they were able to open up again. In these uncertain times, the activities at the sports center offer the children a sense of normality and joyfulness.

FC Chambly went to Gothenburg to revisit their Gothia friends

Due to the Coronavirus disease pandemic, Gothia Cup got canceled for the first time since the start in 1975. This was a huge disappointment to many teams but it didn’t stop French team FC Chambly to visit Gothenburg.

Remsle turned the negative news into something positive

The cancellation of this year’s Gothia Cup meant disappointment for many young footballers looking forward to the summer. For the 15-year old girls in Remsle UIF, the negative news quickly turned into something positive. “Most of us were going to play until Gothia Cup and then quit but now we get one more year together which is really great”, says Elvira Heneryd.

Kusasa Stars reaches out for help to keep the children safe

South African team, Kusasa Stars, participated in Gothia Cup in 2018 and 2019 and looked forward to fulfilling the dreams of more young people this summer, traveling to Sweden and the world’s largest meeting place for youth. Instead, they’re now fighting the coronavirus pandemic, trying to keep the children safe in these challenging circumstances.
